Mentor
Huebner
... was a restless artist and needed to work, he liked it, and
often one movie wasn't enough for him, besides painting landscapes,
seascapes, cityscapes and portraits
~ to steal a quote from Jerry Dumphy, CBS and ABC
News Anchor Man ~ "From the Desert to the
Sea....." , he also worked on 250 feature
films ~ some of them two at a time.
His
credits ranged all over the visual disciplines necessary for film
making and for everything else. He was an expert in all visual
categories.
He
was multi talented and multi credited as a Primary Production
Illustrator, a Designer, a Choreographer of Complicated Sequences,
an Art Director, a Production Designer, a Ghost Designer, a Conceptual
Artist and a Conceptual Story Board Artist and he is the only
professional motion picture artist in the entire film industry,
World-Wide who has back-up to prove it.
He
specialize in "action shots"
and could be counted on to create the most unique and exciting
designs, everything that was needed for Science Fiction
Films and was very brilliant at planning shots that
mixed 'special effects' with 'live
action'.
And
why not? His Horoscope shows that he was born with Jupiter, Mars
and Pluto in his First House and five planets in Leo opposing
Uranus in the House of Careers. He was destined to have a unique
career and was destined for action. .
There
are many people who had contact with Mentor, possibly thousands,
either personally or professionally, at least once, even if for
only a few minutes. Many knew him for years. During the 50 years
and 250 films he met a lot of people.
Although
there are many people out there who knew him - Producers, Directors,
Actors, Editors, Artists, Grips, Gallery Directors, Museum Curators,
Art suppliers, Printers, Janitors, Waitresses and Cops at the
gate, but not everyone who knew him came from a Motion Picture
Studio setting.
Mentor
was very personable. He told jokes. He danced. He sang. He flirted
with most women and most women flirted with him.
No
one who met him would forget him. They could say they did but
I would know they hadn't. He was unforgettable!
So
if you ever met him, anywhere, and you would want to contribute
some thoughts for publication on this site, or in one of the future
books to be written about him, either with full credits or anonymously
~ email me and we'll be in touch.
Mentor
was 'larger than life'.
I
can easily see that although his fans loved him, there probably
is someone, somewhere, who didn't. Mentor had a rather potent
ego. Maybe someone had some negative thoughts about him.
All
points of view and experiences with his personality are welcome.
Positive or negative. Send it along. It's OK. I'll sift through
all of it. His image, his talent, his genius, his spirit, can
take it. So can I.
I
found him to be charming.
